There comes a time when as a child you get a glimpse of how difficult it is to be a parent. You see how when you hurt, they hurt too- and they would do anything to shield you from that.
I’ve felt immense love and support from my parents recently and in a weird way from my dad. We’ve always shared a connection via music and not much else but then I’ve also underestimated the power of music.
I like to believe that the many things he couldn’t convey in words he did it via the sharing of music.
This is about Sade, introduced to me by my father, sung together on long drives, and fittingly our father daughter dance at my wedding. So our Top Sade songs. We love her so. Maybe you like her music, maybe you only know a couple… all the same I hope you enjoy.
Smooth Operator- I think this was the first one I learnt, word for word, I remember us dancing to this in the living room.
Sweetest Taboo from the “Promise” Album
There’s a quiet storm that is you…
No ordinary Love – I really want to say this is my favourite but I don’t want to commit, I can’t
King of Sorrow
There’s Soldier of Love, There’s Babyfather (which was our father daughter dance), Somebody already broke my heart, The Moon and the Sky… I could go on and on.
Enjoy some Sade this week,
Do you have a favourite Sade song?
