Sade

Sade-live

There comes a time when as a child you get a glimpse of how difficult it is to be a parent. You see how when you hurt, they hurt too- and they would do anything to shield you from that.

I’ve felt immense love and support from my parents recently and in a weird way from my dad. We’ve always shared a connection via music and not much else but then I’ve also underestimated the power of music.

I like to believe that the many things he couldn’t convey in words he did it via the sharing of music.

This is about Sade, introduced to me by my father, sung together on long drives, and fittingly our father daughter dance at my wedding. So our Top Sade songs. We love her so. Maybe you like her music, maybe you only know a couple… all the same I hope you enjoy.

Smooth Operator- I think this was the first one I learnt, word for word, I remember us dancing to this in the living room.

Diamond life…

Sweetest Taboo from the “Promise” Album

There’s a quiet storm that is you…

No ordinary Love – I really want to say this is my favourite but I don’t want to commit, I can’t

King of Sorrow

There’s Soldier of Love, There’s Babyfather (which was our father daughter dance), Somebody already broke my heart, The Moon and the Sky… I could go on and on.

Enjoy some Sade this week,

Do you have a favourite Sade song?

Love always,

Sabirah

    Love me some Sade.
Sweetest Taboo is my favourite oldie to dance to, I’ve never thought about what my fave Sade song is, but right now I’d say: Love Is Stronger Than Pride and Your Love is King. (After Sweetest Taboo)

I love love love Sade. Her (their) music and I have a connection, from the notes, to the instrumentals, to her vocals… I could go on.

Love those you mentioned, also, Cherish the Day, Feel No Pain, Lover’s Rock, Slave song , By Your Side, Kiss of Life are one of my all time faves (I could go on really).

Off to listen to some Sade!!!

My favourite is “By your side”, but I really don’t know many others. I should give her a better listen.

Sweetest taboo will always be the soundtrack to lazy Saturday afternoons as remembered from my childhood.

I recently found Love Is Stronger Than Pride and I’ve been loving it.

I’ve always loved the popular songs (already mentioned), but in 2012/2013 I decided to get albums (Diamond life, Promise, Stronger than pride, Love deluxe and Lovers rock. That’s 1984-2000). After going through them extensively, I can’t find one I like more than the other.
I do have some I relate with on a personal level
    – somebody already broke my heart (lovers rock)
    – cherish the day (love deluxe)
    – keep looking (stronger than pride)
    – mermaid (love deluxe)
    ☺☺
