Happy New Year!
So far so good? I’m glad to be here, are you? Is it a bit late to be talking about the newness of it all, and resolutions etc? I don’t think so.
I love the idea of using the whole of January to reset, set intentions, plan and get ready for the whole year. Previously I’d bang out resolutions on the 31st of December, pray over them and be all charged and fired up for the year- whether this fire sustained for the rest of the year is another matter.
I’m not sure where I first read of the idea of taking all of January to review, renew, but I think it was one of the numerous newsletters I’m subscribed to. Speaking of, subscribe to mine here (promise I’m sending something soon). So yeah I’ve taken it slow this month. I quietened noise around me- for me that means being mindful in everything I’m doing and reducing distractions. I’ve spent less time ‘multi-tasking’ because we know the truth about that. And I’ve just tried to listen a bit more.
In this time I’ve tried to pray more, with varying success on a daily basis.
I hope this can be a yearly practice because it makes so much more sense than resolutions for resolutions sake.
I’ve settled on two things.
1) A word for the year, to serve as theme- expanded for different areas of life but also easy to simply look at to be reminded. I think my next post will be about that
2) Smaller time frames 30-90 day periods for small tasks I set for myself in different areas.
I hope to share and expand on these in the coming weeks.
I hope you’ve had a fantastic start to your year.
