Y’all this Social Butterfly thing is not relenting at all. My weekend was packed and delicious in all ways imaginable ;). This post though, is about Saturday evening.
I got invited to a Food styling event by Maggi Nigeria and it was simply gorgeous. Our host for the day was Chef Tiyan Alile of the Culinary Academy and Tarragon restaurant and I had such a great time.
I loved the topic at hand and Chef Tiyan took us through her process of styling and gave us many tips and tricks. I love thinking of food as art but it’s something I’ve always been a little hesitant to try my hand at, so best believe I soaked up every word.
The food itself was delicious; Sweet pea aioli, Herbed Fish Pastel, garden greens and apricot- my fave. Chicken croquette, plantain purée, glazed carrots and mustard cress and Dessert was Carrot pastel, vanilla cream cheese and Almond Tuile. So many people made comments about the small portions but between all of that and 3 cocktails- 2 Ginger martinis (which I LOVED) and the Zobo royale, I was stuffed. I couldn’t even finish dessert. But then that’s me, I typically don’t eat that much.
Something else that was lovely was being around people with similar interests. Talking about food, whipping out phones to get the best photo angles and just meeting new people was lovely. Our Maggi hosts were incredibly warm and the whole thing just felt nice.
I went home- goody bag in hand- feeling thoroughly happy. Or as I’ve been saying lately; “Fully washed”.
Thank you Maggi! And Thank you Chef Tiyan.
Love always,
Sabirah
